You're doing the work.Someone else is getting rich.
TradeUp is for skilled people who are done building someone else's asset. We'll show you how to build your own business while you're still on payroll, then leave on your terms. Not before.
No cost. No pitch. You keep your paycheck the entire time.
Anyone telling you to quit on Monday isn't the one paying your mortgage.
You already have the skill. That was never the problem.
The gap isn't competence. It's that nobody ever showed you how to turn the work you already do into something you own.
You run the jobs
Electricians, HVAC techs, plumbers, contractors. You're the reason the work gets done and the invoice gets paid. You just aren't the one cashing it.
You deliver the work
Designers, marketers, accountants, developers. Clients ask for you by name. The firm bills three times what you take home.
You run the place
Middle managers who keep the machine running. You already do the job of an owner. You're just doing it for a salary.
The Owner's Path
Five stages, in order. You don't skip ahead and you don't quit early. The whole point is that nothing here requires you to gamble your income.
Identify
Find the business that fits the skills you already have, a market that's actually paying, and the hours you realistically have outside your job.
Position
Build the offer and the reputation before you need the money. It's far easier to look credible when you aren't desperate for the next job.
Acquire
Get paying customers while you're still collecting a paycheck. First revenue is the hardest and the most important. Do it with a safety net.
Replace
Grow until the business covers your W-2 income. Then, and only then, you give notice. This is the stage most people get wrong by moving too soon.
Scale
Go from operator to owner. Systems, hiring, and the parts of the business that keep running when you're not in it.
What this isn't
There's a lot of noise in this space. Here's what we don't do.
No "quit your job" advice
Burning the boats is a story people tell after it worked. We build the income first and treat your paycheck as the funding, not the obstacle.
No numbers without context
Revenue screenshots with no costs, no timeline and no failures attached aren't proof of anything. If we show a number, you get the whole picture.
No guru act
No rented supercars, no stage, no countdown timers. Operator to operator, from someone who ran the business rather than read about it.
Real people, real numbers
Drop 2–3 real case studies here. Each one should carry: where they started (job, income), what they built, how long it took, what the business makes now, and at least one thing that went wrong. Deliberately left empty rather than filled with invented examples.

Add a one-line title here.
I built the business. Then I built it again with other people.
I took a service business past $1M in revenue, and I've since coached multiple businesses from launch through scale. That's the entire basis for anything you'll read here.
What I didn't do is figure it out by quitting first and hoping. The path in this program is the one I'd give someone with a mortgage, a family, and no appetite for blowing up their life on a maybe.
Add 2–3 sentences of your actual story: what the business was, what the hardest stretch looked like, and why you started teaching it. Specifics build more trust than adjectives.
